Ask HN: My Gemini bill shot up suddenly to 2500 USD in one day
our usage of gemini is very limited. using 2.5 flash or similar models. at a hackathon in bay area i used the api key in my google app script. from that day my usage overshot to insane amounts.Google started charging y card every 30 mins or so. Google support said they will help significantly waive this off but they havent been swift. any one else experienced anything similar?
Unlimited billing is the main reason I will never sign up to use Google or Amazon cloud services, as I use them for other things I wouldn't want to lose access to in the event of chargebacks, etc. Cloud services signup terms are basically legal authorization for them to monetarily charge you for the result of someone else running a script. It would be very easy for these companies to implement settings for hard financial limits, but yet they refuse.
But I figure they would just say “no” when you exhaust the tokens you have
